Playtrekker Of The Month 2007

DECEMBER 2007

EVERYONE!
Back in December, several Playtrekkers hatched a plan to cheer up Kelly after her auto accident with a special gift. And that's just what happened. In a big way. Joe Traum wrote up all the details HERE. Many of the people instrumental in making this act of kindness happen were nominated for December POTM, and, after throwing out the rule book, the POTM committee decided that the December Playtrekker of the Month is EVERYONE!!! Thank you everyone! You all rock. Big time. You make Playtrek an incredible place to be all year round . . . you've made it into one great big family, in the truest sense of the word. King Roberto put it best: "The overall generosity, kindness and altruism of Playtrekkers is a true wonder to behold. You're a great group of folks and I am proud to call you my friends. I nominate you all for Playtrekker of the Month as Playtrek couldn't be what it is without you."

NOVEMBER 2007

IVY HEFLER
Ivy went out of her way to help fellow Playtrekkers who were non-military get an otherwise near-impossible to get item. This item was a Captain America exclusive comic book only available to the military -- although non-Trek, still she thought of her fellow Platyrekkers. Ivy has been a long time friend to Playtrek. She often watches out for the needs of fellow Playtrekkers, buying and shipping items at her cost and often even without any request for recompense. She even made it to Playtrek in Vegas and shared some Romulan Ale on the bridge of the Enterprise with her fellow Playtrekkers. And, of course, her most recent feat was going out of her way to help fellow Playtrekkers with the exclusive Captain America comic. Thanks Ivy. It is for these reasons and so much more that Ivy is proudly awarded the November Playtrekker of the Month.

OCTOBER 2007

MICHAEL HEINTZ
Michael's been with Playtrek for a long, long time now. He was our original WebTV Bastard Child, although he has since moved on from those days. We've all lived vicariously through him as he's collected everything Trek under the sun and shared all this trials and tribulations that go with that. He even made it to Playtrek in Vegas and shared some Romulan Ale on the bridge of the Enterprise with his fellow Playtrekkers. Recently Mike received some "Ships of the Line" calendars by mistake and he immediately thought of his Playtrek family, hosting a contest to give them away. It was very kind and nice to know we were in his thoughts. Mike, we really do appreciate having you around and I hope we see your pixels for many years to come. It is for these reasons and so much more that Mike is proudly awarded the October Playtrekker of the Month.

SEPTEMBER 2007

There were no nominees for September.

AUGUST 2007

BEN BARACKMAN
The August Playtrekker of the Month attended the San Diego Comic Con and went out of his way to help a lot of Playtrekkers with exclusives. A true feat! As many may know, the San Diego Comic Con offers a lot of rare and exclusive items, but one has to be there in person to get everything without resorting to eBay and paying much more than necessary. Ben was very kind and spent a lot of his own upfront money, as well as time, at the convention to acquire items for fellow Playtrekkers. In addition, he sent out everything fast and in at least one case, before payment for items was received. Ben has been with Playtrek for a long time, and even if he is in lurker mode most of the time now, his contributions are highly welcome. Ben's generosity and Playtrek spirit are greatly appreciated. It is for these reasons and so much more that Ben is proudly awarded the July Playtrekker of the Month.

JULY 2007

GREG REED (aka Kurr)
July's Playtrekker of the Month shouldn't be any surprise. This guy has been on a spending and sending frenzy for fellow Playtrekkers as of late, as well as giving away some rarities and highly sought after items. First off, Kurr had the audacity to give away (his own time and money) a bunch of rare plushy toys. These things are from those arm grabber vending machines, so they're not exactly easy to acquire items. He did this on multiple occasions with multiple items and no request for reimbursement. Add to that, he also has been helping fellow Playtrekkers get the recently released, hard-to-find an highly-sought Hot Wheels Batmobile toy at only cost plus shipping. All this is very much in the spirit of Playtrek. For this Pete even nominated him twice and Carl seconded twice in the same month! So it's double the kudos. Kurr had made us very proud (and happy) with his generosity. Thanks Kurr. It is for these reasons and so much more that Kurr is proudly awarded the July Playtrekker of the Month.

JUNE 2007

EMILY PEPPERMAN
Emily, for those who don't know, donates the server space, time, money, etc. that it takes to host the Playtrek mailing list. She has not asked for any sort of financial reimbursement (although she does take donations!) and has been instrumental in keeping the mailing list alive. She's hosted several Playtrek parties and has been very much involved with helping make Playtrek a great community. We all should be GREEN with envy. Thanks Emily. It is for these reasons and so much more that Emily is proudly awarded the June Playtrekker of the Month.

MAY 2007

LIZA NIAV
For continuing to show the Playtrek spirit and helping out others with Trekkie stuff at cost and occasionally for free, the May Playtrekker of the Month is Liza Niav. Liza is turning out to be quite a consistent winner with several POTM awards under her belt. She has been and continues to help out her fellow Trekkie friends with merchandise, donating her time and sometimes the product itself. Very cool and very much in the spirit of Playtrek. Thanks Liza. It is for these reasons and so much more that Liza is proudly awarded the May Playtrekker of the Month.

April 2007

GREG LUSTIG
For showing the Playtrek spirit and helping out fellow Playtrekkers with rare (and off topic!) Battlestar Galactica toys, the April Playtrekker of the Month is Greg Lustig and Wife! Greg (and his lovely wife) were kind enough to help out fellow Playtrekkers with some of the very hard to find Battlestar Galactica items. Sure, it's off topic from Playtrek's normal topics, but it just shows the Playtrek spirit of going above and beyond to help others with their collecting addictio[BKSPACE][BKSPACE][BKSPACE] needs. Thanks Greg (and lovely wife) for making Playtrek a better place. It is for these reasons and so much more that Greg and his wife are proudly awarded the April Playtrekker of the Month.

March 2007

There were no nominees for March.

February 2007

BEN MEYERS
Ben's honor comes by way of Chris Rei, who asked for some hard to find and frequently scalped toys from Toys R Us. Ben came through, not only going out of his way to pick the toys that Chris needed, but at his own cost only. This, despite those same toys being scalped for ten times that amount on eBay at the time. This shows the true Playtrek spirit of helping each other out with rare toys and easily harkens back to the days when we had to really depend upon each other for those shortpacked Playmates action figures. Ben has been with Playtrek for a long time and has always been a friend to the list. Thanks, Ben. It is for these reasons and so much more that Ben is proudly awarded the February Playtrekker of the Month.

January 2007

PETE KAVANAGH
January's Playtrekker of the month is no real surprise. This person has been a friend to Playtrek for a long time and this time around, he came back from Las Vegas with a suitcase full of Trekkie goodness for his fellow Playtrekkers. He donated his time and suitcase space, not asking for a dime of profit. Pete has won the POTM honor many times over now, which shows how much of a valuable Playtrekker his is. He's quite a frequent and enthusiastic poster to the list. He's always willing to share information on new Trek goodies and shares items from his own collection when things overflow. This month, he took a trip to Vegas and asked if any Playtrekkers had any needs from the Star Trek Experience store. He was more than willing to pick up people's requests and ship them off, all for his only costs only. What a guy! That's what a tremendous friend he is to Playtrek and it is for these reasons and so many more that Pete is proudly awarded the January Playtrekker of the Month.
